Max and Min in Yamb: how do they score?
Put your highest total in Max and your lowest in Min. Neither scores on its own. The gap between them, multiplied by your Ones, is what counts.
How many points are Max and Min worth?
The row scores (Max − Min) × Ones. The best case is a Max of 30 and a Min of 5. That gap of 25, times 5 Ones, is 125 points. For example, a Max of 24, a Min of 10 and three Ones score (24 − 10) × 3 = 42.
What's a good Max and Min?
Five random dice add up to 17.5 on average. If you spend a turn on Max, keeping the high dice and re-rolling the rest, you average 23.3. Doing the same for Min averages 11.7. That's a gap of about 11.7, so each One is worth about 11.7 points.
How YoloYamb plays Max and Min
YoloYamb is Yumbee's neural network. It taught itself Yamb over 200,000 games against itself. Here's what it learned, from 5,000 of its games.
In Call, YoloYamb keeps about 3.2 Ones and opens a gap of about 14.0 between Max and Min, which earns it 45.6 points a game. In Up, Ones is the last row it fills, so it rarely has many, and the same rows earn just 5.3. So where the column lets you, get your Ones before Max and Min.
